This year I moved to the high school third year staffroom. It had been in the Junior high staffroom for a long time, so it took me a while to get used to the high school staffroom. But I noticed that it is a lot quieter here. I am now the sub-homeroom teacher for D class with Mr. Horikoshi. D class is very energetic and noisy, but I have been enjoying getting to know them.
This year I have been mainly in charge of high school classes. I only have two junior high classes a week with Amber Sensei, so I don’t spend that much time in junior high. Last year I was a sub-homeroom teacher for junior high school, so I am sad that I can’t see those students much this year. In high school classes, I am mainly focused on improving students’ listening, reading and pronunciation skills. I am also teaching a selective English conversation class for the first time.
Now that the coronavirus situation has calmed down in Japan, we have been able to have school events again. During this summer vacation, I went with my school club students to Kyoto. We saw many beautiful temples and Buddhist sculpture. It was extremely hot, but it was nice to finally go on a school trip again.
