The year is slowly coming to an end, and we have been extremely busy for the last few months. About two weeks ago, the school held a culture festival “Nichigakusai” for the first time in three years. It was cancelled for the last two years due to the coronavirus but seeing as it is now safe to hold events and travel again, we decided to go ahead with the festival.
The junior high students worked hard to make their own plays, short films and presentations while the senior high school students transformed their classrooms into differently themed game rooms. I helped decorate the halls with vines and pictures of flowers. It was the students’ first time to experience a culture festival at our school and it looked like they really enjoyed themselves.
Now that the festival is over and we are one week away from midterm tests, the students are in full study mode. I am busy preparing tests for both the junior high and senior high students and will be testing the junior high 2nd years on their English conversation skills this week. In junior high, we have been practicing English conversation for the last few months and most of the students are now able to have a simple conversation in English. I look forward to seeing how good their conversation skills will become in the next few months.
