It has been around 6 months since my last relay talk. I am happy to say that I am now officially a teacher at Nihongakuen. I finished my duties as an ALT and I am now able to teach classes by myself. I have slowly started teaching by myself and I really enjoy it although I am still not able to see the students faces because they must wear masks. I really look forward to the day we do not have to wear masks anymore.
It is slowly starting to get cold now as we head into Winter, but I think we are still warm as we are so busy at Nihongakuen. Lately, junior high school students are preparing for their annual speech project. The junior second year students are writing speeches about their future dreams while the junior third year students are writing about traditional Japanese culture. The students would usually present their speeches at the school festival, but this year it is canceled. So, we will film the students presenting their speeches. They have been practicing a lot, so I think their presentations will be very good. I look forward to hearing them.
As we get closer to the end of the year, students are studying harder and harder for their end of year test. Junior third year and senior third year students are preparing even harder for their entrance exams. I have noticed students becoming more focused in class even though I know they are very tired as they have not had a long holiday this year. Due to the coronavirus, the summer vacation was shortened to just a week and half, but I am very proud to see that our students are doing their best this year. I am sure they will all do very well in their end of year tests and in their entrance exams. I wish them all good luck.
