This year, I am the sub homeroom teacher for 5A and 5C. I was worried, but I have gotten used to managing two homeroom classes. I spend a lot of time after school talking to students about their studies and hobbies and I feel that we have bonded well.
This year, Amber Sensei and I have been doing a lot of English conversation classes with Junior High 3A and 3B. They will go to Australia soon, so we have been helping them prepare for using English in real situations. We taught them useful phrases that they can use in the airport, in restaurants etc. I also helped the NGP students prepare for their homestays in Australia. I taught them how to use Japanese culture as a conversation starter and talking point for when they meet new people in Australia.
The 表象文化研究部 club gained new members. I invited some students from my homeroom class and three students joined the club and we went to an exhibition in Roppongi Hills. It was the “Louise Bourgeois Exhibition”. She is the artist who created the giant spider sculpture seen in Roppongi Hills. The exhibition dealt with some difficult themes, so I was worried that the students wouldn’t enjoy it, but they said it was very interesting. I am looking forward to our next outing.
